Today's Daily Devotional for Women - Brag that you know the Lord
Bible Verse of the Day
Jeremiah 9:23-24 This is what the Lord says: “The wise must not brag about their wisdom. The strong men must not brag about their strength. The rich must not brag about their money. 24 But if someone wants to brag, then let them brag about this: Let them brag that they learned to know me. Let them brag that they understand that I am the Lord, that I am kind and fair, and that I do good things on earth. I love this kind of bragging.” This message is from the Lord.
Excerpt
We’ve spent the week talking about how God created you for a specific purpose - and that purpose is the way He shares His love to others who don’t yet know Him.
But here’s the catch. When we say yes to our purpose, if we don’t take the next step and actually shine God’s light in that purpose - then we never really said yes.
Here’s what I mean. God gave you the gift of singing, and you DO sing… But you never sing about God.
God gave you the gift of teaching, and you DO teach… But you never teach anyone about Christ.
God gave you the gift of encouragement, and you DO encourage others… But you never encourage them with the word of scripture.
God gives you your purpose, and it’s up to you to share God’s love using that purpose. If you never talk about Jesus or share Jesus' love through that purpose, then you’re not letting God use you to forcefully advance His Kingdom.
I know it’s scary. I know it’s uncomfortable. But I PROMISE you that when you share the love of Jesus with someone - it feels SO good. Getting started is the hard part, but then the Holy Spirit takes over and you’re speaking words of wisdom you didn’t even know you had within you!
I had the chance to share God’s love the other day with someone who considers himself an atheist. He was struggling with his family, and as he spoke to me I knew he needed a word of encouragement.
I’d never spoken to him about Jesus before because I know how openly atheist he is, but in that moment I said “I know you’re struggling. Will you allow me to pray for you?”
He paused, and then he nodded yes.
I then said, “can I pray for you right now?”
He nodded yes again.
Then I went on to hug him and pray over Him, praising Jesus for His healing and His strength and His love and asking the Lord to surround that man and bring him the peace he was looking for.
After I said A-Men, I looked up and saw the man crying in my arms. A man who is a self proclaimed atheist, who curses like a sailor, who I’ve never seen break down a day in my life.
Here he was weeping at a prayer to Jesus! Hallelujah!
Step out on faith and share God’s light today using the gift He’s placed inside of you. And I promise you promise you promise you, the inner joy and love you’ll experience is going to be incredible!
